Parque Villa-Lobos

FreeLeashed only

A 732,000 sq m state park on the old Pinheiros river floodplain, with a running track, cycle path, orchid house, library, football pitches and a large fenced dog area split into small and large dogs. The Roda Rico ferris wheel now rises beside it.

Why it made the list

The park is flat, shaded and free, and its dog area is one of the biggest in the city, with separate runs by size.

Good to know before you go

The park's official rules page requires every dog to be on a short lead and collar, makes the owner collect waste, and bans dogs from the human drinking fountains; it does not describe the fenced dog area, which exists in practice rather than in the written rules. Entry is free and the park is described as fully accessible. Source: parquevillalobos.com.br, the Reserva Parques concession site for the state government. Confidence: high on access, medium on the dog area's official status.

Practical notes

  • The dog area is busiest after 17:00 – go before 09:00 if your dog dislikes crowds.
  • Gates close at 19:00 sharp; the last lap of the park starts well before that.

What is available on site

  • Shaded seating
  • Step-free access

House rules and verification

The pet policy above is summarised from the venue’s own published information and cross-checked against public listings. Last checked: against the source on . Policies change without notice anyway, so confirm the current one with the venue before you travel, and keep your dog leashed anywhere that is not a signed off-leash area. Read the full disclaimer.
