Non-Commercial Policy
Big Happy is a non-commercial website. We do not earn money from the places we list, from the people who read the directory, or from anything you click. This page says so plainly, because the opposite is now so common that it is worth being explicit about.
What we do not do
- We do not carry advertising, and we do not accept sponsored posts, paid placements or “featured” slots.
- We do not use affiliate links. No link on this site earns us a commission if you book, buy or subscribe.
- We do not take commission, referral fees, kickbacks or any other payment from a venue, a booking platform, a retailer or a tourist board.
- We do not sell the goods and services described here, and we do not take bookings or payments on behalf of any venue.
- We do not sell, rent or trade readers’ data. How we handle personal data is set out in the Privacy Policy.
What that means for you
- No paid placement. A venue cannot pay to be listed, to be written about more warmly, or to rank higher. Inclusion is decided on verified usefulness alone.
- Nothing is for sale. There is no premium tier, no membership and no paid data product. The directory is the whole product, and it is free.
- One incentive only. Because we earn nothing when you visit a place, the only thing we gain from a listing is being right about it.
Why the site exists
Pet-friendly advice is usually assembled from other lists, stale impressions and guesswork. We would rather publish fewer, checked listings and be honest about the details we could not confirm. That work does not require monetisation, and we do not intend to monetise it — no advertising, no sponsorship, no affiliate commission, ever.
A permanent commitment
This is a policy, not a phase. Big Happy will stay non-commercial. If a future version of the site were ever to introduce a commercial relationship, it would be announced on this page before it took effect — but no such relationship exists today, and none is planned.
