Chimney Park Off-Leash Area

FreeOff-leash permitted

An eighteen-acre North Portland park whose centrepiece is a large, fully fenced off-leash dog area under mature trees. Outside the fence there are leashed walking trails, picnic tables and a disc golf course.

Why it made the list

One of the largest fully fenced off-leash areas in Portland, so a dog without perfect recall can still run — unlike the city's many unfenced off-leash zones.

Good to know before you go

Off-leash inside the fenced dog area only; leashes required elsewhere in the park. Fully fenced with a double-gated entry and one combined area rather than a separate small-dog section. A water spigot sits inside the dog area. Free. Portland Parks rules require sight and sound control, current rabies vaccination and cleanup. Details come from the City of Portland's park page.

Practical notes

  • The entrance is muddy through the rainy season.
  • Bring your own waste bags — they are not always stocked.

House rules and verification

The pet policy above is summarised from the venue’s own published information and cross-checked against public listings. Policies change without notice anyway, so confirm the current one with the venue before you travel, and keep your dog leashed anywhere that is not a signed off-leash area. Read the full disclaimer.
