Vollpension is an intergenerational café near the Naschmarkt in Vienna's fourth district, where grandparents bake and serve cakes, Buchteln and breakfast, with vegan options available daily. Run as a social business, its Schleifmühlgasse branch has a large garden terrace that opens in the warmer months.

Why it made the list

A genuine breakfast and brunch stop that openly welcomes dogs, central in the fourth district minutes from the Naschmarkt, with a large outdoor terrace for warmer days.

Good to know before you go

The café's own site states plainly that dogs are very welcome at Schleifmühlgasse, both inside and on the terrace; its Johannesgasse branch does not admit dogs. It is open daily from 08:00 to 20:00, and the site notes this branch is not wheelchair accessible. Facts taken from the café's Schleifmühlgasse page.

Practical notes

  • Book ahead at weekends, especially for groups of four or more, and mention the dog when you reserve.
  • The sister site on Johannesgasse does not admit dogs, so make sure you go to Schleifmühlgasse 16 rather than the first-district branch.

What is available on site

  • Dogs indoors
  • Shaded seating

House rules and verification

The pet policy above is summarised from the venue’s own published information and cross-checked against public listings. Policies change without notice anyway, so confirm the current one with the venue before you travel, and keep your dog leashed anywhere that is not a signed off-leash area. Read the full disclaimer.
