Café Sacher Wien

$$ · ModerateLeashed only

Café Sacher Wien is the historic coffee house of Hotel Sacher, beside the Vienna State Opera, serving Viennese coffee specialities, breakfast and the Original Sacher-Torte from early morning until late evening. It occupies a grand first-district building on Philharmonikerstraße and welcomes guests from around the world.

Why it made the list

A traditional Viennese coffee house that states dogs are warmly welcome and, unusually, opens daily from morning to late evening, so it suits breakfast or an evening coffee with a dog.

Good to know before you go

The café's own site states that four-legged companions are warmly welcome, continuing a house tradition begun by Anna Sacher. It is open daily from 07:00 to 23:00, is barrier-free, and reservations are recommended; the site also notes dogs are welcome in line with Austrian state law. Facts taken from Café Sacher Wien's official page.

Practical notes

  • Reserve ahead, as the café is busy throughout the day and its own site asks guests to book to guarantee a table.
  • It is a short walk from the State Opera and Karlsplatz; the surrounding first district requires dogs on a lead under Vienna's public-area rules.

What is available on site

  • Dogs indoors
  • Step-free access

House rules and verification

The pet policy above is summarised from the venue’s own published information and cross-checked against public listings. Policies change without notice anyway, so confirm the current one with the venue before you travel, and keep your dog leashed anywhere that is not a signed off-leash area. Read the full disclaimer.
