Threes Brewing Gowanus
$ · Budget·Leashed only
A fully functioning Gowanus brewpub with house lagers and IPAs, plus 'The Yard,' a lush year-round backyard beer garden with its own outdoor bar. Well-behaved leashed dogs are welcome in the outdoor Yard alongside their owners.
Why it made the list
A year-round brewery yard where dogs settle in while you drink fresh lagers at the outdoor bar.
Good to know before you go
Dogs are permitted in The Yard outdoor space (indoor areas remain humans-only under NYC food-service law). The Yard is tented and heated in winter with a winterized outdoor bar, so dog season never really ends.
Practical notes
Dogs belong in The Yard, not the indoor Main Bar or Tiny Montgomery
Kitchen serves 12:00–22:00; Ninth Street Espresso runs mornings

New York's first Department of Health–approved dog café, split into a coffee side and a separate Dog Dining Room entered straight from Avenue A. In the Dog Dining Room dogs come off the leash under owner supervision, which is close to unheard of indoors in Manhattan.
The city's first dog run, opened in 1990 and still its largest — a big fenced dirt run in the middle of Tompkins Square where dogs exercise unleashed through the day. Regulars treat it as a club with its own mailing list.
A Midtown hotel with an unusually open pet policy: no fee, no deposit, no weight cap and no limit on how many pets come with you. Bowls go to the room, beds come on request, and the concierge keeps a list of nearby dog-friendly parks and restaurants.
