The Mash (Kensington)

$$ · ModerateLeashed only

The Mash is a family-owned craft beer and pizza spot that brews with spent grain and bakes its pizza dough from it. Several Calgary locations, including Kensington, offer dog-friendly patios, and the kitchen makes a Pawsome Pizza for dogs with a spent-grain and oat crust topped with pumpkin, chicken, roasted red pepper and mozzarella. One dollar from every Pawsome Pizza supports the Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society.

Why it made the list

Few patios actually cook for your dog — here pups get their own pizza while owners eat spent-grain pies with house-brewed beer.

Good to know before you go

Dogs are welcome on The Mash's dog-friendly patios, including the Kensington location; serving size guidance for the dog pizza is a quarter pizza per 25 lb as a treat. Hours were not published on the Pawsome Pizza page, so check the website before visiting.

Practical notes

  • Order the Pawsome Pizza — $1 goes to AARCS rescue work.
  • Patio seats go fast on sunny weekends, so arrive early.
