Evergreen Brick Works

FreeLeashed, off-leash zone on site

A former brick factory turned public park in the Don Valley ravines, run by the charity Evergreen. Dogs are welcome across all outdoor areas on a short lead; there is a designated fenced off-leash park on the west side of the site, and animals other than service animals are not allowed inside the buildings.

Why it made the list

One of the few Toronto sites with both leashed ravine trails and a fenced off-leash park, free to enter and open every day of the year.

Good to know before you go

Evergreen runs the Brick Works under a head lease with the City of Toronto and the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority. Off-lead dogs are permitted only inside the fenced park on the west side; elsewhere City of Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 349 requires a lead and carries a $365 fine. Pets are barred from indoor buildings except service animals.

Practical notes

  • Parking is paid and limited; the free shuttle bus from Broadview Station runs every 30–45 minutes and allows dogs when they are leashed or in a carrier.
  • The Saturday farmers' market is outdoors from May to October, but dogs must stay outside the indoor market hall from November to April.

House rules and verification

The pet policy above is summarised from the venue’s own published information and cross-checked against public listings. Policies change without notice anyway, so confirm the current one with the venue before you travel, and keep your dog leashed anywhere that is not a signed off-leash area. Read the full disclaimer.
