Cerro de Monserrate

$$ · ModerateLeashed only

The 3,152 m mountain above downtown Bogotá, reached by funicular or cable car to a pilgrimage church, restaurants and the El Paramuno birding trail. The top is steep, cobbled and cold.

Why it made the list

Pets are allowed up, on the funicular and on weekdays and Saturdays, which most visitors assume is not the case.

Good to know before you go

Monserrate's terms allow one pet per passenger, on the funicular only and in the operator's car, with a pet ticket bought at the booth. Vaccination card, collar or harness and leash are required, special-handling breeds need a muzzle, and you must clean up. No pet transport on Sundays, at Christmas, Easter or announced peak events. The policy covers transport, not restaurant or terrace access at the top, so ask before sitting down.

Practical notes

  • Buy the pet ticket at the booth, it is not the standard fare
  • Go on a weekday, Sunday transport is not offered

House rules and verification

The pet policy above is summarised from the venue’s own published information and cross-checked against public listings. Last checked: against the source on . Policies change without notice anyway, so confirm the current one with the venue before you travel, and keep your dog leashed anywhere that is not a signed off-leash area. Read the full disclaimer.
