Amsterdamse Bos

FreeOff-leash permitted

A roughly 1,000-hectare urban forest with trails, meadows, lakes and the Bosbaan rowing course. Dogs may run off-leash in most marked areas and swim in designated ponds.

Why it made the list

The region's best full-day dog outing, with huge off-leash fields and dog swimming spots.

Good to know before you go

The forest's official pages and park signage mark losloopgebied (off-leash) zones; dogs may run free in most of the forest except signed restricted areas such as picnic and barbecue zones. Multiple ponds allow dogs to swim and cool off.

Practical notes

  • Start near the Bosbaan and follow the marked off-leash areas toward the Kleine Vijver
  • Check the events calendar first — large festivals can close off sections

What is available on site

House rules and verification

The pet policy above is summarised from the venue’s own published information and cross-checked against public listings. Last checked: the official page blocked our automated re-check on 31 October 2026, so this listing was last confirmed earlier. Policies change without notice anyway, so confirm the current one with the venue before you travel, and keep your dog leashed anywhere that is not a signed off-leash area. Read the full disclaimer.
