Dog Beach Gaasperplas

FreeOff-leash permitted

A designated off-leash dog beach on the west side of the Gaasperplas lake, part of the Gaasperpark recreation area. Dogs can swim from the gently sloping shore, and a large adjoining lawn offers space to run. Free parking is available a short walk away.

Why it made the list

One of the few places in Amsterdam where a dog may legally swim and run off-lead, and it is a proper dog beach rather than a shared shore.

Good to know before you go

Dogs are allowed off-lead in this designated beach zone, but note that the two official recreation beaches at the Gaasperplas are closed to dogs, leashed or not, from 15 April to 15 October, so stay in the dog area in summer. The site is not fenced and the dog beach is not step-free, so reliable recall matters. There is no entry fee and owners must bring waste bags. The details come from Dutch dog-park directories rather than a municipal page.

Practical notes

  • Bring your own waste bags — none are supplied.
  • Check the seasonal beach-closure dates before a summer visit.

House rules and verification

The pet policy above is summarised from the venue’s own published information and cross-checked against public listings. Policies change without notice anyway, so confirm the current one with the venue before you travel, and keep your dog leashed anywhere that is not a signed off-leash area. Read the full disclaimer.
