Wildnispark Zurich - Sihlwald
Free·Leashed, off-leash zone on site
Switzerland's only natural forest park, a protected wilderness of ancient beech and spruce reached directly from Zurich HB by the S10 line. Marked trails follow the Sihl river and climb through the forest, and dogs are welcome throughout.
Why it made the list
A genuine wilderness hike minutes from the city, with a riverside strip where dogs may legally run free.
Good to know before you go
Per Wildnispark rules, all dogs must be leashed in the entire area except the strip between the Sihluferweg and the Sihl, where off-leash is allowed 1 August to 31 March; leashing is compulsory during the wildlife breeding season (April-July). Dogs are barred from parts of the Langenberg wildlife park, and waste must be carried out.
Practical notes
