Uetliberg
Free·Leashed, off-leash zone on site
Zurich's local mountain at 871 m, topped by a panoramic platform with views over the lake and Alps, laced with forest hiking trails including the Planet Trail to Felsenegg. Dogs are welcome and can run off-leash on many forest trails outside wildlife-protection zones.
Why it made the list
A proper mountain hike with city views, starting 20 minutes from the main station by S10 train.
Good to know before you go
Dogs may be off-leash on forest trails where permitted, but Zurich requires leashing in forested areas from 1 April to 31 July during wildlife breeding season, and leash rules always apply on the busy summit area. S10 trains require a half-fare/day ticket for larger dogs.
Practical notes
Take the S10 up and hike down the Planet Trail to Felsenegg
April-July keep your dog leashed in the forest by law
