The two-mile Venice Beach Boardwalk is one of LA's most popular dog-watching strolls, lined with leashed pups and multiple dog-friendly patios such as Venice Ale House at Rose Ave. Dogs must stay leashed on the boardwalk — they are not allowed on the sand itself.
The classic LA dog walk: ocean breeze, street performers and patio dining that welcomes leashed dogs.
The Venice Boardwalk (Ocean Front Walk) is managed by LA Recreation and Parks, where dogs are permitted on leash per city park code (max 6-ft leash, LAMC 63.44); dogs are prohibited on Los Angeles beaches' sand. Note that on weekend/holiday beach-adjacent boardwalks between Santa Monica and Washington St, dogs are barred 11 a.m.–8 p.m. from Memorial Day through October 31.
The pet policy above is summarised from the venue’s own published information and cross-checked against public listings. Last checked: against the source on . Policies change without notice anyway, so confirm the current one with the venue before you travel, and keep your dog leashed anywhere that is not a signed off-leash area. Read the full disclaimer.
