Spanish Banks Beach Park — Off-Leash Area
Free·Off-leash permitted
A long sand beach on English Bay with a 50,374 square metre off-leash area at the western end, near the entrance to Pacific Spirit Regional Park. The City lists water access as a feature of the area, so dogs can go in the sea.
Why it made the list
One of the few Vancouver beaches where a dog may come off the lead, and the area is big enough that a busy summer afternoon still leaves room.
Good to know before you go
Off-leash only inside the designated area; dogs must be on a lead on the way in and out. Hours 06:00–22:00. The City of Vancouver allows a maximum of three dogs per handler and states that by-law fines run from $250 to $10,000. Note the tide: at high water the usable sand narrows.
Practical notes
Check the tide table before you go — high tide leaves much less sand
Bring water; the City lists drinking water for people but not for dogs here

Vancouver's largest park, a 400-hectare coastal rainforest with the Seawall, beaches and trails. Dogs are welcome throughout the park but must stay on a lead unless they are inside a designated off-leash area; the wooded trails and seawall path are the most popular routes for a walk.
A taproom and kitchen from the Steamworks brewery group on Main Street, with a large patio facing a small urban park. The venue advertises a dog-friendly patio and prints a dedicated 'Bone Appétit' menu for dogs, alongside a full pub menu for their owners and a weekend brunch.
A 96-room boutique hotel in Yaletown that markets itself as dog-friendly. Its published policy welcomes one house-trained dog of up to 25 pounds per room, requires dogs to be with their owners or leashed in public areas, and adds a one-off cleaning fee at check-out.
