Stanley Park

FreeLeashed only

Vancouver's largest park, a 400-hectare coastal rainforest with the Seawall, beaches and trails. Dogs are welcome throughout the park but must stay on a lead unless they are inside a designated off-leash area; the wooded trails and seawall path are the most popular routes for a walk.

Why it made the list

A free, all-day park where leashed dogs are welcome on every trail, just minutes from downtown, the West End and the Seawall, and close to several beaches.

Good to know before you go

The City of Vancouver's dog off-leash page confirms that dogs are welcome in all Vancouver parks and must be on-lead unless inside a designated off-leash area; enforcement under the Animal Control Bylaw carries fines of $250 to $10,000. Stanley Park itself publishes no fenced off-leash zone, so treat the whole park as on-lead. Park hours and the 400-hectare figure come from the City's Stanley Park page.

Practical notes

  • Dogs must stay on-lead on the Seawall and on all trails, as the park has no fenced off-leash area of its own.
  • The park is open 6am–10pm; go early in the morning for quieter trails and easier parking near the West End entrance.

House rules and verification

The pet policy above is summarised from the venue’s own published information and cross-checked against public listings. Policies change without notice anyway, so confirm the current one with the venue before you travel, and keep your dog leashed anywhere that is not a signed off-leash area. Read the full disclaimer.
