Railyard Dog Park
Free·Off-leash permitted
A roughly one-acre fenced off-leash park in downtown Denver, opened in 2010 with help from local dog owners. Soft sandy surface, shaded benches and picnic tables, waste bag dispensers, and a water fountain that runs in summer. It is split into high-energy and small or low-energy sections.
Why it made the list
The only Denver Parks off-leash area with its own lighting, staying open from 5am to 11pm — which makes early and late city runs possible.
Good to know before you go
Denver Parks rules require dogs to be spayed or neutered or to hold a current Denver Intact Permit, plus current rabies vaccination and a Denver dog licence. Dogs stay leashed until they are inside the fence and handlers must carry a leash at all times. Children ten and under are not allowed in, and one handler may supervise at most two dogs. The fountain is seasonal, so bring water out of summer.
Practical notes
- Bring your own water — the fountain is summer only.
- The sandy surface turns muddy after rain or snowmelt.

House rules and verification
The pet policy above is summarised from the venue’s own published information and cross-checked against public listings. Policies change without notice anyway, so confirm the current one with the venue before you travel, and keep your dog leashed anywhere that is not a signed off-leash area. Read the full disclaimer.
