Cherry Creek State Park Dog Off-Leash Area
$10–15 vehicle + dog pass·Off-leash permitted
More than a hundred acres of designated off-leash ground inside the 4,200-acre Cherry Creek State Park, on the reservoir's wetland edge. Dogs can run open field and reach the creek for a proper swim, and the park itself has 35 miles of multi-use trail.
Why it made the list
One of the largest designated off-leash areas in the Denver metro, with genuine water for swimming rather than just a field.
Good to know before you go
The park charges a vehicle pass of roughly $10 to $15 per day, and the off-leash area needs a separate Dog Off-Leash Pass costing about $3 a day or $25 a year, with a maximum of three dogs per handler. The area is not fully fenced, especially along the creek, so dogs must stay under voice control and a leash must be carried. Details come from Colorado Parks & Wildlife.
Practical notes
- Buy both passes at the entrance before you park.
- Weekend entry queues are long — arrive early, and watch for summer algae advisories.

House rules and verification
The pet policy above is summarised from the venue’s own published information and cross-checked against public listings. Policies change without notice anyway, so confirm the current one with the venue before you travel, and keep your dog leashed anywhere that is not a signed off-leash area. Read the full disclaimer.
