Norwood Estate Dog Park
Free·Off-leash permitted
A free, fenced off-leash dog park on the Norwood Tract of the Lady Bird Lake metropolitan park, a short walk from downtown. Two double-gated enclosures — one reserved for small dogs — sit under shade trees beside the lake trail.
Why it made the list
One of the few fully fenced off-leash parks in Austin with a dedicated small-dog yard, which makes it far safer than the city's large unfenced lakefront zones.
Good to know before you go
Off-leash applies only inside the enclosures; dogs must be leashed to and from the park and everywhere else on the trail. Free, no membership, water on site — bring your own bags. Austin's rules require sight and sound control, a current rabies vaccination, no dogs in heat and no aggressive dogs. Rules come from Austin Parks & Recreation; hours and fencing are cross-checked against public directories.
Practical notes
- It is popular because of the downtown location — mid-morning on a weekday is calmest.
- Bring a bowl and bags; the water point is inside the fence.
What is available on site

House rules and verification
The pet policy above is summarised from the venue’s own published information and cross-checked against public listings. Policies change without notice anyway, so confirm the current one with the venue before you travel, and keep your dog leashed anywhere that is not a signed off-leash area. Read the full disclaimer.
