Manly Lagoon Park (Lagoon Reserve)
Free·Off-leash permitted
A waterfront reserve at the northern end of Manly Beach where the lagoon meets grassy parkland, with a shared bike/pedestrian path, exercise equipment, playground, toilets and BBQs. Northern Beaches Council designates it a dog off-leash area where dogs may enter the water.
Why it made the list
A 24-hour off-leash park with calm lagoon water where dogs can paddle, right near Manly Beach.
Good to know before you go
Northern Beaches Council permits dogs off-leash 24 hours a day at Lagoon Park and dogs are allowed in the water, though on-site signs flag water quality; note that a timed weekend on-leash restriction (Friday 9pm to Sunday 9pm) applies to the area from the western side of the playground eastward. Owners should keep dogs off the shared path users' way and control barking near residents.
Practical notes
Pair with nearby Hinkler Park, another council off-leash area
Avoid letting dogs swim after heavy rain due to lagoon water quality
