Loring Park Off-Leash Dog Park
$ · Budget·Off-leash permitted
A fully fenced off-leash dog area in downtown's Loring Park, run by the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board. It is one of the Park Board's nine designated off-leash recreation areas and a convenient option for downtown residents and visitors. Dogs must be leashed until inside the designated off-leash area.
Why it made the list
It's the most central off-leash option in Minneapolis, steps from downtown hotels and apartments, making it easy to give a dog a real run without a car.
Good to know before you go
An MPRB off-leash permit is required (annual $38 first dog for Minneapolis residents, $66 for non-residents, $5 daily per dog). Dogs must be licensed and rabies-vaccinated, and off-leash areas operate during park hours of 6 am-10 pm per the Park Board. Source: minneapolisparks.org.
Practical notes
Bring your own water; the Park Board advises not letting dogs drink standing water.
Keep dogs leashed until you are inside the fenced area per Ordinance PB2-18.
