Pet-friendly stays · Shibakoen, Minato-ku
inumo shibakoen by Villa Fontaine
$$ · Moderate·Leashed, off-leash zone on site
A hotel built specifically for dogs, opened in 2022 by Sumitomo Realty's Villa Fontaine near Shiba Park and Tokyo Tower. Dogs are allowed throughout the building, including on the guest beds, and there is a 76 square metre indoor dog run, a grooming salon and a dog kitchen. The in-house Italian restaurant also seats dogs.
Why it made the list
A Tokyo hotel that treats dogs as guests rather than tolerating them, with an indoor run that works in any weather.
Good to know before you go
Small to large dogs are accepted, but extra-large dogs over about 40 kg and certain large breeds are not, with a maximum of two dogs per room. Rabies and combination vaccination certificates are required. The dog run, grooming and boarding are bundled into the accommodation plan, and rooms allow the dog off-lead, though etiquette clothing is required on the bed and a lead applies in common areas. All details are from the hotel's own site.
Practical notes
- Read the accommodation terms before booking — vaccination proof is required.
- Dogs may enter without a cart or cage here, unlike most Japanese hotels.

House rules and verification
The pet policy above is summarised from the venue’s own published information and cross-checked against public listings. Policies change without notice anyway, so confirm the current one with the venue before you travel, and keep your dog leashed anywhere that is not a signed off-leash area. Read the full disclaimer.
