Hotel Diplomat is a privately owned hotel on Strandvägen in Östermalm, overlooking the water at Nybroviken. It has a restaurant, a bar and a spa, and keeps a limited number of rooms for guests travelling with a dog, which cannot be booked online. It is part of Preferred Hotels & Resorts.

Why it made the list

It has a written dog policy and a welcome package, and its eight-kilogram size limit makes it one of the few Stockholm hotels that states a clear weight cap for dogs.

Good to know before you go

The hotel's dog page says it accepts dogs weighing up to 8 kg, that only a small number of dedicated rooms exist and cannot be booked online, and that a charge of SEK 1,000 per stay covers a Very Important Pet package plus extra cleaning. The package includes a dog bed, a blanket, chew toys, treats and two bowls. Address and details from the hotel's own site; the page publishes no opening hours. Confidence high.

Practical notes

  • Phone the booking team rather than booking online, since the dog rooms are not released through the website.
  • Strandvägen and the Nybroviken waterfront give a level, easy walk, while Djurgården across the water is better for a longer run.

What is available on site

  • Dogs indoors
  • Overnight stays

House rules and verification

The pet policy above is summarised from the venue’s own published information and cross-checked against public listings. Policies change without notice anyway, so confirm the current one with the venue before you travel, and keep your dog leashed anywhere that is not a signed off-leash area. Read the full disclaimer.
