Långholmens klippbad (dog and rock bathing area)
Free·Leashed only
Långholmens klippbad is a rocky bathing area on the north-east shore of Långholmen, a small island in central Stockholm reached on foot or by bus from Södermalm. It has flat rocks, clear water and, close by on the island, walking paths, grass and picnic spots for a longer outing.
Why it made the list
Stockholm bans dogs from most official bathing places between 1 June and 31 August, but the city's own page names Långholmen's rock bath as an exception where dogs are welcome all year round.
Good to know before you go
The City of Stockholm's dog page states that dogs may not use bathing places from 1 June to 31 August, 'men undantag, till exempel på Långholmens klippbad är hundar välkomna året runt' (with exceptions, for example at Långholmen's rock bath dogs are welcome all year round). A general lead rule applies on public ground. The site publishes no opening hours; access is unrestricted. Source is the City of Stockholm's dog-area page; confidence high.
Practical notes
- Go early in summer, when the flat rocks are quieter, and use the shaded paths along the island for a longer walk.
- The water is the Baltic and can be cold and brackish, so rinse a dog after swimming and check for blue-green algae warnings in warm spells.
What is available on site
- Swim access
- Water bowls
- Step-free access
House rules and verification
The pet policy above is summarised from the venue’s own published information and cross-checked against public listings. Policies change without notice anyway, so confirm the current one with the venue before you travel, and keep your dog leashed anywhere that is not a signed off-leash area. Read the full disclaimer.
