Griffith Park Dog Park

FreeOff-leash permitted

The city-run off-leash dog park inside 4,210-acre Griffith Park, with separate areas for large and small dogs on a dirt surface. Dogs elsewhere in Griffith Park must stay leashed, and leashes are required in the parking area.

Why it made the list

A free fenced off-leash park inside LA's biggest park, minutes from Griffith Park's dog-friendly trails.

Good to know before you go

Official rules mirror city dog-park code: dogs over four months must be vaccinated, licensed, spayed/neutered and wearing collars and tags; no dogs in heat, no food or treats, and dogs may never be left unattended. The park closes every Tuesday 6:00–10:00 a.m. for maintenance.

Practical notes

  • Combine with a leashed walk past the Old Zoo or Travel Town in Griffith Park.
  • Bring water — sources note shade and water are available but the dirt surface gets dusty.
