Giardino Mario Capponi

FreeLeashed, off-leash zone on site

Giardino Mario Capponi is a 29,900 square metre municipal garden in a quiet part of southern Milan, laid out in 1984 with a children's play area, a basketball court and rest areas along a central path. It holds several tree species, including a large common plane tree.

Why it made the list

A quieter, lesser-known Milan park with two dog areas and free access at several entrances, useful for off-leash play away from the crowds of the central gardens.

Good to know before you go

The City of Milan's official page lists two dog areas and states that access is free, with entrances on via Aicardo, Boeri, Giovanni da Cermenate and Piazza Caduti del Lavoro. The page publishes no opening hours, so access is treated as unrestricted. Dogs may run off-leash only inside the marked aree cani. Facts taken from the Comune di Milano park page.

Practical notes

  • The garden has several entrances around via Aicardo and Piazza Caduti del Lavoro, so it is easy to loop through rather than double back.
  • It is a residential park away from the centre, so keep dogs on the lead on the paths and use the two dog areas for off-leash time.

What is available on site

  • Off-leash area
  • Shaded seating
  • Step-free access

House rules and verification

The pet policy above is summarised from the venue’s own published information and cross-checked against public listings. Policies change without notice anyway, so confirm the current one with the venue before you travel, and keep your dog leashed anywhere that is not a signed off-leash area. Read the full disclaimer.
