Fraser River Park Off-Leash Area

FreeOff-leash permitted

A riverside City of Vancouver park with rolling lawns, boardwalks over tidal marsh and views of the Fraser River, featuring a large designated off-leash dog area. Its mix of open grass and gravel paths makes it one of the city's most spacious official dog off-leash destinations.

Why it made the list

Big skies, river views and a huge designated off-leash zone — the kind of park dogs and their humans both want to linger in.

Good to know before you go

The City of Vancouver's official park listing confirms the west side of Fraser River Park is off leash all year, all day, while the east side is off leash Oct 1 – Apr 30 and on leash May 1 – Sep 30; the riparian area is on leash at all times. Vancouver Park Board by-laws require dogs to be leashed outside designated off-leash areas and under control at all times. No drinking water is provided, so bring your own.

Practical notes

  • In summer, keep your dog leashed on the east side and inside the riparian zone
  • Pack water and a bowl — there are no dog water stations
