Del Mar Dog Beach
Free·Off-leash permitted
A half-mile stretch of sandy beach at the mouth of the San Dieguito River, famous as one of California's premier off-leash dog beaches and a hotspot for dog surfing. Calm shallow water and soft sand make it ideal for splashing, fetch and canine bodysurfing.
Why it made the list
The legendary off-leash beach where dogs surf alongside their owners, just 20 minutes north of downtown San Diego.
