Conroy Pit Off-Leash Dog Park
Free·Off-leash permitted
A large National Capital Commission green space in Ottawa's south end, popular as one of the city's biggest off-leash dog areas, with woodland trails adjacent to Pine Grove Forest. Dogs can run and explore off leash within the designated pit area, making it a favourite exercise spot for local dog owners.
Why it made the list
Nearly 100 hectares of NCC parkland where well-socialized dogs can sprint off leash through a former sand-and-gravel pit and forest trails.
Good to know before you go
The official NCC Pine Grove page states: 'Conroy Pit is a popular off-leash dog park. Dogs are permitted off leash only in the designated area. They must be on a leash everywhere else, including the parking lot, and are not allowed at the toboggan hill.' Leashed dogs are permitted on Pine Grove trails April 15 – November 30 and year-round on the Greenbelt Pathway East. Free parking is available at lots P17, P18 and P19, but the lot is small and fills quickly. Hours were not published in the material reviewed.
Practical notes
Keep your dog leashed in the parking lot and on trails outside the designated pit area
Arrive early on weekends — the small parking lot (32 spaces) overflows onto Conroy Road
