Cold Town House
$$ · Moderate·Leashed only
Cold Town House is a three-floor brewery, bar and rooftop at the western end of the Grassmarket, brewing Cold Town Beer on site and pouring it straight from the tanks. It serves stone-baked Neapolitan pizza, loaded fries and other bar food, and its roof terrace looks up to Edinburgh Castle.
Why it made the list
Its own homepage states plainly that the venue is dog friendly, and the brewhouse and rooftop give a dog a buzzy, central stop rather than a wait on the pavement.
Good to know before you go
The venue's homepage lists 'Dog Friendly!' under its Live Bar and Taproom, and dogs are also allowed in the brewhouse and rooftop areas. It publishes no fixed opening hours, only that last food bookings are at 20:45 and the roof terrace closes at 22:00 daily. Address and details are from coldtownhouse.co.uk; confidence high.
Practical notes
- The roof terrace is the main draw and fills quickly, so book ahead and ask for an outer table if you have a dog.
- The Grassmarket is cobbled and very busy at weekends, so keep a dog close on the way in and out.

House rules and verification
The pet policy above is summarised from the venue’s own published information and cross-checked against public listings. Policies change without notice anyway, so confirm the current one with the venue before you travel, and keep your dog leashed anywhere that is not a signed off-leash area. Read the full disclaimer.
