A neighbourhood café on Dorchester Avenue with a front patio of umbrella-shaded tables where leashed dogs are welcome. The wall of polaroids of canine regulars tells you how the place feels about dogs.

Boston Common runs the Common Canine off-leash programme, approved in 2013 as the first off-leash arrangement in a shared-use historic city park. Off-leash is permitted in designated rotating areas marked by signage rather than across the whole Common.
An off-leash area in the middle of downtown Boston, with the Public Garden next door for a leashed walk afterwards.
Off-leash applies only inside the currently signed area. Maximum three dogs per adult, and anyone under 18 must be accompanied. Dogs must be leashed entering and leaving, and handlers must carry a leash.
The pet policy above is summarised from the venue’s own published information and cross-checked against public listings. Policies change without notice anyway, so confirm the current one with the venue before you travel, and keep your dog leashed anywhere that is not a signed off-leash area. Read the full disclaimer.
