Barkin' Basin Park at Wayne Bunker Family Park

FreeOff-leash permitted

A 7.75-acre dog park purpose-built for canine companions inside Wayne Bunker Family Park, part of the City of Las Vegas' 12-dog-park system. It is one of the largest dedicated dog parks in the valley, with fenced areas sized by dog class. The city's first dog park dates to 1993, and this is its flagship.

Why it made the list

Nearly eight acres of fenced off-leash space is enormous by any city's standard, and it's free with no permit required.

Good to know before you go

The City of Las Vegas lists Barkin' Basin among its fenced off-leash dog parks; city dogs must be leashed outside designated off-leash areas and dogs should be licensed, vaccinated, and supervised. Clark County dog parks post hours of 6 am-11 pm. Source: lasvegasnevada.gov dog parks page.

Practical notes

  • Go early morning in summer - Vegas pavement and heat are dangerous by late morning.
  • Bring your own water bowl; fountain availability varies by season.
