Atlanta BeltLine Eastside Trail

FreeLeashed only

The signature paved segment of the Atlanta BeltLine, a 2.5-mile former rail corridor lined with art, parks, and dog-friendly breweries and restaurants connecting Inman Park, Ponce City Market, and Piedmont Park. It is one of the most heavily used dog-walking routes in the city.

Why it made the list

You can string together an entire dog day — trail walk, dog park, patios, and ice cream — without a car.

Good to know before you go

Dogs must be kept on a leash on the BeltLine per City of Atlanta ordinance (Section 110-70, 6-foot max), enforced by Atlanta police along the corridor. The trail is open dawn to dark; lighting is limited after sunset. Clean up after your dog — bag dispensers appear at several access points. Hours were not published in the material reviewed.

Practical notes

  • Start at Irwin Street and work north to Piedmont Park.
  • The trail is packed on weekend afternoons — weekday mornings are calmest.
