Aire d'exercice canin — Base de plein air de Sainte-Foy

FreeOff-leash permitted

At the Base de plein air de Sainte-Foy, one of Québec City's official off-leash exercise areas sits near the parking lot, fully fenced and split into sections for small and large dogs. Beyond the fence, the base's trail network and water spots are popular for leashed walks and dog swims. It's the city's most loved off-leash spot.

Why it made the list

Fenced size-segregated off-leash play plus forest trails and water access nearby — the best all-round dog day out in Québec City.

Good to know before you go

Dogs must be city-registered and wear the municipal medal, stay leashed until inside the fenced airlock, and off-leash areas close 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. per municipal regulation. Access is free.

Practical notes

  • Use the small-dog section if your pup is under 20 kg and easily overwhelmed.
  • Leashed trail walks around the base let your dog cool off in the water.
