Umbagong District Park
Free·Leashed only
A district park in Belconnen's west with the new bridge walk over native grasslands, plus the Heritage Trail, Creek and Catchment Trail and Nature Trail winding beside Ginninderra Creek. It's a favourite quiet on-lead walking spot for local dogs.
Why it made the list
Peaceful grassland and creek trails with almost no traffic - ideal for a sniffy on-lead leg-stretch.
Good to know before you go
Dogs are permitted on lead on the trails; playgrounds, sportsgrounds and BBQ areas become dog-prohibited when in use, per the ACT Government's Belconnen dog guide. Hours are not published - open parkland.

The headquarters cafe of one of Australia's best-known specialty roasters, serving tasting flights, espresso and a brunch menu of Turkish eggs and fritters. The covered tables out front face the street; the cafe publishes no dog policy of its own, so ask staff before you settle in.
