Travis Park
Free·Off-leash permitted
A historic downtown park operated by the City of San Antonio and included on the Parks and Recreation Department's official off-leash dog parks list. The compact park hosts food trucks, concerts, and a regular downtown crowd of office workers and residents with dogs. It gives downtown visitors and hotel guests a legal off-leash option within walking distance of the River Walk.
Why it made the list
It is the only off-leash dog park option in downtown San Antonio, so travelers staying downtown can still give their dog real off-leash time.
Good to know before you go
The City's dog parks page lists Travis Park among its off-leash parks, with park hours of 5 am-11 pm daily; dogs must be leashed entering and leaving, and no food or glass is allowed in the dog park. Source: sa.gov.
Practical notes
Visit mornings or evenings - midday downtown sun is intense for dark-coated dogs.
Keep your leash in hand when exiting, as the City requires dogs leashed in and out of the park.
