Terwillegar Park
Free·Off-leash permitted
Terwillegar Park sits on the south bank of the North Saskatchewan River at the end of Rabbit Hill Road and offers numerous multi-use trails plus an expansive off-leash area. A 262-metre footbridge links the park to Jan Reimer Park on the north side of the river. Amenities include parking, a portable toilet and a canoe hand launch.
Why it made the list
One of Edmonton's largest natural off-leash areas, with river valley trails and river access that give dogs room to run, sniff and swim.
Good to know before you go
The City of Edmonton designates an expansive off-leash area within the park; dogs must be leashed when entering and exiting and on the footbridge. Official park hours are 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. and access is free. Dogs must be licensed and under control at all times.
Practical notes
Walk the footbridge loop across to Jan Reimer Park for a longer leashed leg.
Keep your dog leashed until you're inside the off-leash boundary.
