Queenstown Recreation Ground

FreeOff-leash permitted

The sports and recreation reserve just off the town centre, which doubles as Queenstown's most central off-leash dog exercise area when sporting events aren't running. Wide open grass gives dogs a safe zoomie zone minutes from the mall.

Why it made the list

The easiest legal off-lead run in central Queenstown, handy before or after a lakeside cafe stop.

Good to know before you go

Per QLDC's Dog Control Policy, dogs may be off leash in designated reserves - check signs and the QLDC dog map, as organised events temporarily require leashes. Hours are not published.

Practical notes

  • Check the reserve for events before unclipping
  • Pair with the Queenstown Bay foreshore walk

What is available on site

  • Off-leash area
  • Water bowls

House rules and verification

The pet policy above is summarised from the venue’s own published information and cross-checked against public listings. Last checked: against the source on . Policies change without notice anyway, so confirm the current one with the venue before you travel, and keep your dog leashed anywhere that is not a signed off-leash area. Read the full disclaimer.
