Platja de Llevant Dog Beach

FreeOff-leash permitted

Barcelona's only officially designated dog beach: a fenced zone at the northern end of Platja de Llevant in the Sant Marti district. It has a swimming area, dog showers, drinking fountains and waste stations, with access controlled by microchip and capacity limits.

Why it made the list

The one Barcelona beach where a dog may legally swim and play off-lead in summer, run by the city with proper facilities.

Good to know before you go

Entry is free but access requires a microchip check and capacity is capped at around a hundred dogs, so arriving early in July and August is wise. Dogs may be off-lead inside the fenced zone; outside the bathing season dogs may use other Barcelona beaches, on a lead. The zone opens 10:30 to 19:30 in the bathing season. The city also reserves some hours for guide dogs.

Practical notes

  • Bring the dog's microchip documentation for the access check.
  • Arrive before 11:00 on hot summer days to beat the capacity cap.

House rules and verification

The pet policy above is summarised from the venue’s own published information and cross-checked against public listings. Policies change without notice anyway, so confirm the current one with the venue before you travel, and keep your dog leashed anywhere that is not a signed off-leash area. Read the full disclaimer.
