Phil Hardberger Park Dog Park
Free·Off-leash permitted
A 330-acre urban natural area with two dedicated fenced off-leash dog parks (one per side of the park), part of the City of San Antonio's network of about 21 off-leash dog parks. The Friends of Phil Hardberger Park and the San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department maintain the park's trails and dog areas. Separate runs and water stations serve large and small dogs.
Why it made the list
It combines a large fenced off-leash run with miles of shaded leashed trails in a protected live-oak landscape, making it the best all-around dog outing in San Antonio.
Good to know before you go
The City of San Antonio Parks and Recreation lists Phil Hardberger Park among its off-leash dog parks, open 5 am-11 pm daily; all dogs must be leashed when entering and leaving, max two dogs per adult, and dogs in heat or under four months are prohibited. Practical notes
Enter from the Blanco Road side to reach the dog park and parking quickly.
Walk the leashed trails after the dog run, but stay out of the restored savanna restoration fence areas.
