Parc des Buttes-Chaumont

FreeLeashed only

One of Paris's largest parks (about 25 ha) with cliffs, waterfalls, a suspension bridge and the Sibylle temple. Dogs on leash are admitted on the paths, and the park also has a designated canine area.

Why it made the list

A dramatic hilltop park where leashed dogs can join you for a full scenic loop, with a dog area on site.

Good to know before you go

Official park rules admit dogs on leash in the alleys and in the park's espace canin; lawns and planted areas are excluded. Rosa Bonheur guinguette inside the park is popular with dog-walking regulars.

Practical notes

  • The 3 km hilly loop is great exercise for active dogs
  • Watch the steep staircases and the suspension bridge with nervous dogs

What is available on site

  • Water bowls
  • Shaded seating
  • Off-leash area
  • Step-free access
