Kaivopuisto Park
Free·Leashed, off-leash zone on site
Helsinki's oldest and most elegant park, sloping from the embassy district down to a rocky Baltic shoreline with archipelago views. Dogs are welcome on leash throughout, and the western section holds a popular fenced koirapuisto (dog park).
Why it made the list
Seaside paths, rocky swimming spots and a proper fenced dog park in Helsinki's most beautiful park.
Good to know before you go
Leashed dogs are welcome everywhere in the park; off-leash play is allowed only in the fenced koirapuisto in the western section. Note the nationwide leash rule from March 1 to August 19 outside fenced enclosures. Free, open access.

One of Helsinki's two official dog beaches (koiraranta), on the island of Mustikkamaa just a short bridge walk from Kalasatama metro. Sandy shallows, shaded pines and an adjacent fenced off-leash meadow make it the city's favourite summer dog spot.
A 10-kilometre corridor of genuine forest — birch, pine and spruce, bogs, rocky outcrops and meadows — running from the edge of the city centre to the northern suburbs. Dogs can run off-leash in the deeper forest zones outside the nesting season, and fenced zones exist near Pirkkola.
A tiny red wooden cottage café on the Töölö waterfront, famous for cinnamon buns, campfire-grilled sausages and sea views. Dogs are welcome, with water available and a classic post-walk stop on the Kaivopuisto-to-Sibelius-Park shoreline route.
