Henley Beach
Free·Leashed, off-leash zone on site
A wide suburban surf beach 20 minutes from Adelaide's CBD, backed by the lively Henley Square dining precinct. Dogs can run off lead on the sand outside daylight-saving hours and on lead the rest of the time.
Why it made the list
The combination of an open dog-friendly beach and one of Adelaide's most dog-welcoming cafe strips makes it the city's classic coastal dog outing.
Good to know before you go
City of Charles Sturt rules: dogs on lead (2 m max) on the foreshore 10am-8pm during daylight saving (approx Oct-Apr) and may be off lead under effective control outside those times; the entire Henley Square is on-lead at all times. Hours were not published in the material reviewed.
Practical notes
Visit early morning in summer for legal off-lead runs
Keep clear of signed plover nesting areas near dunes
