Frogner Park Dog Area (Vigeland Park)

FreeLeashed, off-leash zone on site

Oslo's most famous park, home to Gustav Vigeland's sculpture installation, with broad avenues and lawns. A designated dog park area (hundejordet) within Frogner allows dogs to run free all day, even during the national leash season.

Why it made the list

Combine world-class sculpture-strolling on leash with a proper off-leash run in the park's dedicated dog area.

Good to know before you go

Norwegian law requires dogs on leash April 1–August 20, but dogs may run free year-round in designated dog areas like the one in Frogner Park; leash applies elsewhere. Free, open access.

Practical notes

  • Enter via the main Kirkeveien gate and head for the dog area
  • Keep the leash on for the sculpture avenue — it is strictly enforced

What is available on site

  • Off-leash area
  • Fenced
  • Shaded seating
  • Water bowls

House rules and verification
