Fælledparken

FreeLeashed, off-leash zone on site

Fælledparken is Copenhagen's second-largest park, laid out between 1908 and 1914 in the Østerbro district. It holds wide lawns, mature trees, a lake, a 3.5 km path and the largest skatepark in northern Europe, and it includes dedicated, signposted dog areas where owners and their pets can mix and run.

Why it made the list

It is the closest thing central Copenhagen has to a big, off-lead dog park, with purpose-built dog areas inside a large municipal park that is served directly by the metro.

Good to know before you go

Copenhagen's official visitor board describes the park as having 'dog areas where both pets and owners can socialize'; inside those marked areas dogs may run free, while a lead is required elsewhere under Danish rules, which also cap a lead at two metres in the city. The park publishes no opening hours and access is unrestricted. Source is the official Visit Copenhagen park page; confidence medium.

Practical notes

  • Reach the park by metro to Trianglen or Vibenshus Runddel, as parking near Østerbrogade is limited.
  • Check the signs before slipping a lead, since Copenhagen requires dogs to be on a lead in most public space and permits off-lead running only in marked zones.

What is available on site

  • Step-free access

House rules and verification

The pet policy above is summarised from the venue’s own published information and cross-checked against public listings. Policies change without notice anyway, so confirm the current one with the venue before you travel, and keep your dog leashed anywhere that is not a signed off-leash area. Read the full disclaimer.
