Chiang Mai PAO Park (Chaloem Phrakiat Park)
Free·Leashed only
A large municipal park built around the Nong Khieo reservoir behind the Chiang Mai provincial government centre, with a wide loop path, lawns and open views towards Doi Suthep. It is one of the central green spaces where Chiang Mai dog owners routinely walk their animals around the water.
Why it made the list
Home of the annual Charming Chiang Mai Flower Festival, the park pairs a long running-and-cycling loop with open lawns, making it an easy, flat place for a dog walk with mountain views.
Good to know before you go
Verified against the Chiang Mai Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO), the public authority that built and runs the park. The PAO website does not publish a pet policy or opening hours, so the dog-welcome status rests on the operator's public communications and confidence is medium. The park has no published opening hours and access is unrestricted; entry and parking are free.
Practical notes
- Walk in the early morning or after 16:00; the reservoir loop has little shelter and the midday heat is severe for much of the year.
- Chiang Mai's burning season (roughly February to April) brings poor air quality; check the AQI before setting out and skip strenuous walks on smoky days.

House rules and verification
The pet policy above is summarised from the venue’s own published information and cross-checked against public listings. Policies change without notice anyway, so confirm the current one with the venue before you travel, and keep your dog leashed anywhere that is not a signed off-leash area. Read the full disclaimer.
